Pep band has always been a little tricky for me since I am a cheerleader, but I play as much as I can. I performed at all the required along with a couple of volunteer games thrown into the mix as well. Having a semi big instrutment and having to get the instrument after the game along with the other things makes it difficult for me to enjoy pep band as much as I would if i wasn't involved in cheerleading. If I am being honest, I deserve a low A or a B, but I'm willing to do alternate assignments to make up for what I have missed.
Pep band is a very important elment of band because it gets into the pop and rock genres of music, instead of the concert music that we usually perform. It also gets more people to see what we can do from our own community and the surrounding areas. Top 3 pep band songs: - Living on a Prayer: It really like the melody that the french horn has. There's also a lot of unison melodys and I like when that happens because it makes it super powerful - Star Spangled Banner: This has always been one of my favorite pep band song because AMERICA and the part when the horns sing "and the rockets red glare.." it gives me chills when we play it just right. - Crazy Train: Ever since we cleaned it up and added Mike to it, WOWZA. It's amazing to play, amazing to listen to. I love everything about it because we excute it so well. Bottom 3 pep band songs: - Seven Nation Army: I don't like the song in general because it's annoying to me but I don't like playing it because there's a section of really high notes that are hard to hit and it just doesn't intrest me. - Party Rock: We only have the bass line and it bores me, it's like we are playing a Sousa song. I know we have to have 3 but I really can't think of another one that I don't like playing other than these two. I improved greatly on Wipeout this year, especially measures ____. I also used to just fakely play, usually just playing open, 1, open, 1, etc. But since we took it meausre by I figured what the actual fingerings were and how the eighth notes went.
